6 Best Gluten Free Baking Mixes to Satisfy Cravings
There are a lot of gluten free baking mixes out there. Don’t waste your time on the others—these six are the best I’ve found! Something about the cooler weather and the beginning of the holiday season makes baking sound so appealing and these gluten free baking mixes are sure to delight.
This post was hard to write as I was practically drooling the whole time. But, it was fun to buy and bake my favorites all over again to get some good pictures!
Yummmmm. Baking mixes can make such great options to contribute to a party (it’s so nice to know you’ll have a safe carb to enjoy in there!), as they are quick and easy to make.
You might even save a buck or two if you make these opposed to attempting something from scratches or purchasing pre-made treats.
There have been countless times that I’ve made each of these gluten free baking mixes and they’ve been devoured by family members who aren’t even gluten free.
Another awesome thing about these baking mixes is that they’re so easy that you can let your kid help without pulling your hair out! I’ve made each one of these with my daughter without any mishaps. Wow.

These mixes DO require eggs, so if you can’t have them and you’re interested in learning how to make the best substitutions for ingredients (as well as the science behind it) then check out the Loopy Whisk’s creator, Katarina Cermelj’s book The Elements of Baking.
It’s a really cool, informational, and beautiful cookbook. It lends itself more to baking from scratch, but it would come in handy here too I’m sure. I’m really enjoying it and learning a lot! It would also make the perfect Christmas gift for that dietary restricted baker in your life, or yourself (wink, wink), you deserve it.
But, let’s not wait any longer. Here are the six best gluten free baking mixes!
1. Best GF Coffee Cake Type Mix – Krusteaz Gluten Free Cinnamon Swirl Crumb Cake
I took this Cinnamon Swirl Crumb Cake to a rather large Easter gathering this year where the vast majority did not know it was gluten free and it was absolutely gobbled up.
The best part is that because of the topping and middle layer of cinnamon it looks like something that might be timely and complicated to make, but it’s not at all. It’s super easy.
It’s also great for Christmas morning. Whip up a some icing with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk to drizzle on top to bring it to the next level. It’s like a cinnamon roll, but in cake form.
2. Best GF Brownie Mix – King Arthur’s Gluten Free Ultimate Brownie Mix
I’m continually blown away by these brownies each time we bake them. I should just expect them to be excellent by now, but wow. You definitely won’t be missing the gluten when you eat these.
Someone asked recently if there was somewhere to get Sweet Street Gluten Free Manifesto Honduran Chocolate Brownies (the delish individually packaged ones that are sold at different restaurants and amusement parks e.g. First Watch, Dollywood) in bulk, and I suggested they try this King Arthur’s Brownie mix since they are just as good, if not better, and much cheaper.
I get mine with my Thrive Market delivery. Thrive Market has King Arthur Cookie Mix and King Arthur Muffin Mix available for delivery too. Get a FREE gift up to $60 when you become a Thrive Market member!
3. Best GF Cookie Mix – Meli’s Original Monster Cookie
My whole family is obsessed with these cookies and the best part is that I don’t even need to feel guilty about it. That’s Meli’s Original Monster Cookies are fairly healthy for you as far as cookies go.
This gluten free baking mix’s first ingredients are certified gluten free oats and nut butter, so these cookies are higher in fiber and protein than your average cookie. Pretty cool!
My kids and I love the taste and the colorful m&ms add an element of fun that the kids also love.
If you can’t tolerate gluten free oats, I sincerely apologize and promise to keep trying traditional cookie mixes until I find one I love just as much to put on this list!
4. Best GF Cake Mix – Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix
I’m not the biggest cake person, probably because I measure everything up to my mom’s chocolate applesauce cake from my gluten eating days (a long time ago).
So I was very, very pleasantly surprised when I tried Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix. It’s moist to a level that you would not expect from a gluten free cake. This cake has pleased both gluten and gluten free cake eaters alike at many a birthday party around here.
Full disclosure—I didn’t get to the cake mix for a picture. We’re on baked-goods-overload, and have a lot of birthdays coming up, so I’ll update this part later. But, don’t wait for me! Get your own now!
5. Best GF Muffin Mix(es)
Simple Mills Almond Flour Pumpkin Muffin & Bread Baking Mix and
Simple Mills Almond Flour Banana Muffin & Bread Baking Mix
At first I was just going to include the pumpkin mix, because it’s my favorite. But I didn’t want you to see it and totally disregard it if you don’t like pumpkin. The banana mix is essentially the same, just a different flavor.
I have the Banana muffins pictured above, but the Pumpkin box. That’s just where the chips fell in this crazy season.
Both of these mixes are so moist and not at all crumbly like a lot of gluten free muffins.
I do prefer banana bread from scratch to these banana muffins. However this gluten free baking mix is so easy and not having to get the timing right to put an overripe banana out of its misery is pretty nice.
Both types of muffins are even better when you add chocolate chips. I definitely recommend do this. It takes it to another level. I like Enjoy Life’s allergen friendly chocolate chips.
Both Simple Mills Almond Flour Pumpkin Muffin and Bread Baking Mix and Simple Mills Almond Flour Banana Muffin and Bread Baking Mix can be found on Thrive Market.
6. Best GF Cornbread Mix – Krusteaz Gluten Free Honey Cornbread
Yes, another gluten free Krusteaz mix!
If you used to love dinner rolls pre-gluten free, but haven’t found a good substitute, I’d like to introduce you to Krusteaz Gluten Free Cornbread. It’s a satisfying side for many meals, especially this time of year when you might have chili or soup simmering in your crockpot.
This mix is sweet, but not too sweet, has a nice flavor, and isn’t too dry like some cornbreads can be. It’s definitely as good as gluten cornbread.
